If you’ve recently visited your local beauty salon then you may well have seen a service on their menu called hot stone massages. This is essentially where a massager will place smooth heated stones on your body to release any tension, warming up tight muscles.
Is this a proven technique though or are you better off having a hot bath?
Well, there is some evidence to suggest that these stones work more deeply than a bath and more quickly too, but you’re not guaranteed to feel much different when your session is over, and perhaps that’s why this method has not completely taken off just yet.
A standard massage with oils can loosen muscles effectively, helping you to relax and perhaps it isn’t worth having scorching hot stones placed on your body.
